The Core Of Decipher

Loud. Impactful. Deafening.

Decipher took over the Lithe House with their post-hardcore songs on January 21, 2017. The band also gave audiences a teaser of their upcoming EP.

Tightly packed in a small white shophouse located at Madras Street, the band was close enough for audiences to touch. Decipher shared an intimate moment with the audience as they performed their set with heartfelt emotion.

It was pure expression. The band’s emotions were pouring out through every beat. You can feel it in your chest. The toned down but loud beats accompanied by angsty and emotional lyrics got the audience head-banging and asking for more.

Lucky for those who could not attend the gig, the songs performed by Decipher that night will be part of their latest EP. Strange Comfort is set for release in late February or early March this year. It will be comprised of five songs: Sea That Surrounds Us, Absent Minds, Fleeting Hearts, Old Glory, Sleepless and Coda.

Gary, the bassist of the band, mentioned, “This record actually more or less just lit up the passion that I had for this band that I haven't had in a while.”

After almost four years of being together, the band has never stopped experimenting with their music. Decipher is now bringing a brand new style to their sound, inspired when Gary and Wira went to Melbourne. The EP was described as emotional and personal by the members. Of course, Decipher’s signature sudden change halfway through a beat is still included.

Wira, the clean vocalist and rhythm guitarist, said, “There was a lot of things what went through our minds when we first started recording. We honestly didn’t know what the EP would sound like and to be honest, we are actually pleasantly surprised with what we have right now.”

“This record is the five of us and something the five of us can call our music,” Darryl, the lead guitarist, added.

The EP is worth to be anticipated about. Through their gig in the tiny room of Lithe House, anyone could tell these guys have a burning passion for music. They put their heart and soul for a small gig and has the potential to go even further. Decipher is a band to keep an eye out for.
